The Caring Women’s Connection (CWC) is a 501[C]3 not-for-profit organization.  The mission of this organization is to build connections with its members, the community, and charities they support, and to raise money through fundraising events and donations to help Lake County-based charitable organizations serving women and children and other community programs in need in Lake County.  Donors may deduct contributions donated to the Caring Women’s Connection as defined by the Internal Revenue Service.  It is the privilege and responsibility of the donor to establish the value of all gifts in kind made to the Caring Women’s Connection.  We will provide a tax receipt for all donations.

Our organization began in 1958 as a way to meet other women in Hawthorn Woods.  Since that time, we have expanded our membership to communities outside of Hawthorn Woods and are continually striving to help worthwhile organizations.  Membership is open to all ladies over the age of 21, interested in community, charity, and camaraderie.  There are many benefits to becoming a member.  You will enjoy fun-filled meetings with raffles and appetizers, get reduced rates for events, receive our monthly Connection publication and CWC Connections online newsletter.  We encourage you to join online with a credit card and become a member today!

The Caring Women’s Connection gives from the heart through our “Love Fund” by actively supporting outstanding local organizations:  A Safe Place, Lake County Haven, Mount Saint Joseph, Joanie’s Closet and other community programs.  The CWC also awards a Scholarship to a deserving high school senior in Lake County each year.  Applications are on the website as of December 1 of each year and must be postmarked by March 1 to be eligible.  The proceeds collected through the year goes into the Fund, and we are able to then assist the shelters and other community programs with their initiatives. The positive impact we can have on the lives of these women and children is amazing!  Never underestimate the power of even a small kindness.

We host monthly events to promote fun activities along with social interaction with our members.  We are involved in community programs such as Emmaus House and The Chapel Food Pantry to help prepare and serve food.  Our Holiday Helpers Program helps make the holidays a brighter time for the shelters.

An online communication called CWC Connections is emailed once a month to members, volunteers, donators, and anyone else interested in receiving them.  Get on our mailing list by clicking on the link on our Home page.

Our Connections newsletter publication is mailed to area residents and members once a month.  This publication reaches approximately 4000 residents.  These publications are used to inform people about our events/meetings and increase awareness of news regarding the CWC and community in Lake County.

The Caring Women’s Connection holds Board meetings once a month and we encourage our members to attend.  These Board meetings are used to plan our social meetings and fundraising events for the year and handle other business matters.

The CWC solicits Grant Requests from qualified organizations once a year.  Applications may be obtained online and must be mailed to the Caring Women’s Connection, PO Box 234, Lake Zurich, IL  60047.  All Applications must be postmarked no later than April 1.  The Board has a formal meeting to review the applications and award the allocations before June 30 of each year. The decisions are based on the fit of our mission along with the charity’s need.
